| The new Mr. and Mrs. Worrell December 27, 1964 |
I did take some time to gather photos and a small handful of videos where we captured a joyful Grandma loving on her sweet gran'baby, Macklin. Though bittersweet, it helped a little to watch them.
In reflection
Even though we can't all be together today, we can take a moment to think about that day 50 years ago - that rainy wedding day where the bride's hair was a little too damp to curl, and the bridesmaids' red dresses shone brightly by the altar. The day when a beautiful bride in a sparkling white gown and her handsome, skinny young groom skipped out of the church and into their car for a few hours' drive north to their honeymoon. The first meal - not a fancy reception, just a late night supper of sub sandwiches in the darkened town of Washington, D.C. A perfect day to be followed by almost 50 perfect years of love, support, and laughter.
Without that day, there would be no three Worrell girls.
Without that day, there would be no three loving granddaughters, and no Macklin Kenneth Berg - the light of my life and best part of my every day.
So for today, I'll try not to be broken-hearted and instead be very, very grateful for that day 50 years ago.
I love you, Daddy.
