Over the weekend, Charles and I moved Macklin to his own room. He's sleeping in his big boy crib, which is very exciting. Unfortunately, he's not sleeping very soundly - his pattern used to be a solid 9 pm - 2 am, then 2:30ish - 6:30 am block. But since we moved him to the crib, he's been waking up at 11 pm, 1 am, 2 am, 4 am, etc. He never fusses for long and generally dozes off again once we give him his pacifier or rock him a bit, but holy cow. We're like zombies in the morning now, struggling to get out of bed at a decent hour. Any tips on getting a 4 month old to sleep more soundly?
In other, much more important news! Mack enjoyed his first mommy and me yoga class on Sunday and had a blast looking at the other babies and rolling around on the mat with me. He must have made some important connections in the brain, because he took a great nap that afternoon and when he woke up and had some tummy time, he rolled over from his tummy to his back! I was so excited I cheered for him, which made his little eyes bug out. Then he did it for Daddy, too, just to prove he could. We're very proud parents of a little holy roller.

I have a suggestion for getting Baby Mac to sleep at night. Give him some solid food. That will do the trick. Both Brandi and Mickie had to start giving their babies rice cereal to get them to sleep for longer periods at night. There is nothing wrong with giving him some solid food; he doesn't know how to grab his pacifier yet, so it is either give him some solid food or get up every time and plug his mouth with the paccy!
I love these last few posts! I can't believe how much he has grown up, and so fast! What a big boy to be rolling over like that. That is so much fun! :)
Sleeping thorough the night, that is a tough one. I would just stick with the pacifier trick, he'll figure out how to find it and pop it back in eventually.
We had to resort to the wait 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes, 10 minutes, etc before going in and patting each of the girls. It worked best with Caroline but we were much more disciplined with her than the others, because we didn't want Catherine and Mary Claire to wake everyone else in the house up.
It's definitely more painful on the parents than it is the kid to let him cry it out. I dont know if Mac is too young to do that with yet, but that's what we did and it (eventually) worked.
Scott will say vacuuming works wonders as well, it drowns out the baby noise and puts them to sleep.
We gave Caroline and Catherine rice cereal at 4 months, Mary Claire had only milk until 6 months. None of them improved sleeping habits as result of eating solid foods. Sorry mom!! :)
