It was a busy but good week for all of us, but I think the go-go-go of daycare and playing outdoors may have gotten the best of Macklin. He either has terrible allergies or a bad cold; last night he started getting stuffy, and this morning he's a gooey, sneezing, eye-rubbing mess. As usual, though, he's such a cheerful little guy and isn't letting it get the best of him. After a short nap in Daddy arms this morning, he enjoyed a morning snack of milk, sweet potatoes and pears, and he had some quality time jumping around and blowing raspberries. (And occasionally spraying Mommy with some of the aforementioned goo.) He's now lightly swaddled and napping in his crib; he's not a big crib-napper, though he's fine in the crib at night, but sometimes swaddling him helps tip the sleepy guy into cozy dreamland.
Macklin got a visit this weekend from Grandma and Grandpa Berg, too. They drove through Chicago on their way home from a victorious canoe race in NY and enjoyed lots of cuddles, squeals and hugs from their grandson. They also babysat for Charles and me last night, so we were able to visit our friends John and Theresa and their new son, Ethan, who is a tiny little cutie with a head full of silky black hair. Is it possible that Macklin was ever that small?
This week Macklin really amped up his vocalization - he can squeal and holler with bigtime volume now. Of course, Daddy and Mommy encourage this by hollering back, which is a fun conversation (but probably setting us up for future embarrassing noises in restaurants and churches.)

Beyond cute. Pterodactyl, indeed!
Macklin is doing a great job of "talking." He knows he is communicating with you; he just doesn't quite get it yet. What a happy, happy boy! Give him some love and kisses from his grandma in Texas! Tell him that I'll see him soon.
